Social media optimization
Make every social profile reinforce the same business.
Customers often check social profiles before contacting a business. Incomplete information, inconsistent branding and abandoned profiles can create doubt. Social Media Optimization focuses on making the profiles you actually maintain accurate, credible and connected to the rest of your digital presence.
Problems we solve
What a customer notices when they check you out.
None of these are dramatic on their own. Together they cost you the benefit of the doubt.
Inconsistent branding between platforms
Different logos, colours and tones across profiles make the business look like several businesses.
Old addresses, phone numbers or website links
A visitor finds a number that no longer works and quietly moves on.
Incomplete profile information
Blank fields where the platform offers a chance to explain what you do and who you serve.
Poor profile imagery
Low-resolution or cropped logos and cover images that undercut an otherwise credible business.
Confusing usernames and handles
Different handles on each platform, none of them obviously connected to the business name.
Weak profile descriptions
Bios that describe the industry rather than the business, or that were written years ago.
Too many abandoned profiles
Accounts nobody maintains, still turning up in search results and still dated.
No connection between social and website activity
Profiles link nowhere useful and nothing gets recorded when someone does click.
What SMO may include
Accurate, consistent and pointing somewhere.
Scope depends on which platforms you maintain and what state they are in.
Profile audit
A pass across the profiles you maintain: what is there, what is missing, what is out of date.
Business-information consistency
Name, address, phone and hours matching across profiles and matching the website.
Profile and bio optimization
Descriptions written for the person deciding whether to contact you, using the fields each platform provides.
Website link optimization
Making sure the link on each profile goes somewhere current and relevant.
Branding consistency
Logo, colour and tone aligned with the rest of the digital presence.
Profile and cover image recommendations
What to use, at what size, and what tends to get cropped badly on each platform.
Call-to-action configuration
Using the action buttons and contact options each platform makes available.
Platform cleanup recommendations
What to keep, what to update and what is doing more harm than good sitting abandoned.
Naming and handle consistency
Handles that are recognisably the same business wherever someone finds you.
Tracking and UTM recommendations
Where appropriate, tagging profile links so visits from social can be identified in analytics.
Cross-platform consistency review
A final read across everything, as a customer checking you out would experience it.
What we can and cannot control. We work on the information, branding, links and settings each platform exposes to you. How a platform ranks, surfaces or displays a profile is decided by that platform, and it changes without notice. We do not claim influence over that, and there is no proprietary score behind this work — just profiles that are complete, current and consistent.
How it connects
Profiles are part of the same digital presence.
They are often the second thing someone checks after your website — and sometimes the first.
Social Media Marketing
Optimization makes the profiles credible. Marketing gives people a reason to keep looking.

Explore Analytics & CROBrand credibility

Measurement
Modest metrics, honestly reported.
What each platform exposes varies and changes over time. We report what is genuinely available rather than inventing a score.
Profile visits
How many people are looking at the profile, as reported by each platform.
Website clicks
Clicks from the profile through to the site.
Available CTA interactions
Use of the contact and action buttons each platform provides, where that data is exposed.
Referral traffic
Visits arriving at the website from social, identifiable in analytics once links are tagged.
Engagement
Interactions with the profile and its content, read as a signal rather than a result.
Profile completeness and consistency
An operational measure — whether every profile is complete, current and saying the same thing.
Questions
Questions about social profiles.
What is Social Media Optimization?
Work that makes the social profiles you maintain accurate, complete, consistent and connected to the rest of your digital presence. It is about the profiles themselves — the information, branding, links and calls to action — rather than the day-to-day posting.
Is SMO the same as Social Media Marketing?
No. Marketing is the ongoing activity: content, campaigns and audience building. Optimization is the foundation underneath it — making sure that when someone arrives at a profile, what they find is current, credible and points somewhere useful. Doing the marketing on top of neglected profiles wastes some of the effort.
Should I delete unused social profiles?
Not automatically. An abandoned profile can look worse than no profile, but deleting one can also free up the handle for someone else or break links pointing at it. We would look at each case: some are worth updating and keeping, some are worth closing, and some are worth simply leaving accurate even if inactive.
Can you update all of our profiles?
We can work on any profile you grant us access to. What is possible varies by platform — each one controls which fields exist and how they are displayed — and some changes have to be made by an account owner. We would confirm what access is needed before starting.
Does social media affect SEO?
Not directly in the way rankings are usually imagined. Social links are generally not treated as ranking signals. What social does contribute is discovery, branded searches and consistent business information, all of which support the wider search picture. We would be cautious about anyone claiming a direct ranking effect.
How often should profiles be reviewed?
Whenever something changes — an address, a phone number, services, hours, branding — and on a periodic pass beyond that, because platforms add and change profile fields over time. We would rather set a sensible review rhythm with you than quote a fixed interval that suits every business.
